Our Mission is to provide current information about social dance activities and events offered to the public. Our primary focus is on ballrooom, latin, and country styles of dance.

Our Goal is to promote a social network of dance enthusiasts in and around Southern Wisconin.

A quick overview of how this site works

The home page displays a chronological list of events from the current date forward. The entire list of events is searchable and sortable.

Search: Use the search box to find a particular item or group of items in the listing. The advanced search feature can be used to perform more complex searches; like setting a date range of events.

Sort: Click on any column heading to sort the list by that column. Clicking the column head a second time will reverse the sort order based on the items in that column.

If you click on the top banner or the Events menu item, you will return to the Events Page which is also the home page for the website.

Icons

The Music, Venue, and Sponsor icons present more detailed information about a listed event. You can hover over the icons to get a popup list of detailed information, or click an icon to present a more static view of the information. Included in the details are external links to websites for bands and music, and google maps for each venue.

The View icon expands the selected event to show all of the details noted above on a single static page. You can also leaf through each event sequentially by using the navigation button on this page.

Social Dancing

For those who are new to social dancing we have included some basic information.

Submissions

It is practically impossible for us to discover all dance related events in our catchment area so we rely on you to let us know about events that pop up on your radar. To submit events for inclusion in the Dance Happenings calendar click the Submissions menu. We do require the name and contact information of the person making a submission in case we need to verify or clarify the submitted information. The submitter's name and contact information is not published or shared.

Use the New Event submission form to let us know about an event not included in our list of events. We do screen events and cannot guarentee that all submitted events will be listed. Our focus is on publically held events that have music and some space for social dancing in the vicinity of Madison, WI. Generally, we do not list concerts, private events, or events that promote competative dancing unless there is a social dance component. We reserve the right to exclude any event from our listing.

Sometimes changes occur in the world unbeknownst to us. We attempt to keep this website current and up-to-date but we cannot guarentee that all of the information is accurate all of the time. So if you know of a change we would appreciate you letting us know using the Event Change submission form.
